This is where you stop training for yourself and start being the one signing the logbooks. At D&J Aviation, we treat the CFI certificate as a transition into professional leadership, not just a way to build hours.
Your signature carries regulatory weight, and your habits will shape the next generation of pilots.
If You Endorse It, You Own It
The initial CFI checkride is notoriously detailed because it tests your ability to teach, not just fly. At D&J, we don’t settle for “good enough” maneuvers; we train you to defend your instructions with technical accuracy.
Instructional Precision
You must fly to Commercial standards from the right seat while explaining aerodynamics and risk management.
Error Analysis
You’ll learn to diagnose simulated student errors and provide effective, safe corrections.
Regulatory Authority
We ensure you can apply Part 61 regulations precisely to authorize solo flights and practical tests.
CFI Rating Training Costs
Most students pay $9,055+ to earn their Certified Instructor Rating.
This covers 15 hours of aircraft time, 60 hours with a flight instructor, the FOI and FIA written exams, and the examiner fee. It does not include training materials.
Orlando-Apopka (X04): Our primary environment for perfecting maneuver demonstrations and student-level briefings.
Sanford International (SFB): Where you’ll teach students to navigate complex towered airspace and ATC coordination.
The CFI Fleet: Master the Piper Warrior and Piper Archer TX (G1000 NXi). You need to be as comfortable with “six-pack” fundamentals as you are with the Garmin glass technology your students will be using.
Your Next Step
CFI Readiness Review
We’ll audit your logbook, review the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI), and map out your lesson plan development.
