Private Pilot Program

Where Every Pilot Begins

This is where you stop being a passenger and start becoming a Pilot in Command. Whether your goal is a career at a major airline or the freedom to fly your family for the weekend, your foundation starts here.

What Your Can Expect

In a Part 61 environment, the FAA says you need 40 hours. In reality, 40 hours is a regulatory minimum, not a proficiency standard. At D&J Aviation, we don’t just train you to pass a checkride; we prepare you for the responsibility of the cockpit through a family-owned environment backed by 50+ years of leadership.

Aircraft Control

You’ll master takeoffs, landings, and flying solo.

Judgment

Before your first solo, you must demonstrate consistent discipline and safe decision-making.

Habits

For career-track students and recreational flyers, best-in-class habits start on lesson one.

Timeline & Logistics

Consistent Availability

Students training 3 to 5 times per week retain skills better, solo faster, and ultimately spend less money by avoiding retraining.

Major Milestones

Most students fly their first solo within 5-6 weeks of starting their training and complete their FAA written exam and checkride 1-2 months later.

The Investment

Total cost depends on how often you fly. Most students pay around $15,000+ for 50 flight hours. We will give you a realistic projection based on your pace, not a “best-case scenario”.

Is This the Right Flight Program for You?

This is for you if:

  • You value proficiency over the minimum hour count
  • You’re ready to take actual responsibility for an aircraft
  • You can commit to the “homework” side of aviation

This isn’t for you if

  • You’re looking for a casual, unstructured experience
  • You expect a certificate just for showing up to the airport
